Newland College is for families looking for an academic programme that incorporates students’ interests. The MYP Certificate is the credible, ofqual recognised alternative to GCSEs. Our round-table discussions develop communication skills and reward a student’s ability to develop original ideas.

See the college this term on a Welcome Wednesday. These run on selected Wednesdays from 10:00am – 11:00am. Our next will be held on 24th May, another 14th June. You will be able to see our students in class, have a tour of the college and meet the team.

Our next Open Day is on Saturday 24th June 2017 starting at 9.30am

Reserve a place at a Welcome Wednesday or Open Day by emailing our Registrar at or use the form on our contact page. We look forward to welcoming you!

All prospective students are interviewed by the Head of College, and sit a diagnostic computerised test to determine their abilities in English and Mathematics, as well as their overall aptitude.

  1. The interviewer will talk about the different aspects of the IB Middle Years Programme and will look for a commitment to its academic demands.
  2. The interviewer looks to determine the suitability of the student to our discussion based method of learning. The willingness of students to listen to peer contributions is key in this regard. Our taster days are an excellent way to participate in this.
  3. Students are invited to bring in an object, picture or photograph that they would like to talk about during the interview. The interviewer will refer to the student’s questionnaire so we can ensure that each student can follow their own interests at the school.Computerised testing, as well as the student’s current school report, will also be taken into consideration before offering a place.
